Snow in Memphis!
	This picture, taken from the live cam on our website, shows... snow in Memphis! What a pretty way to close the Elvis Birthday Week! Elvis has always liked snow and one December morning, when he was not at Graceland, he asked a local camera man to shoot the white landscape so he could see the 'snowy winterland' when he returned to Memphis a couple of days later. The first Christmas Elvis spent in Graceland was in 1957 surrounded by his parents and girlfriend Anita Wood
Elvis gave Anita a poodle for Christmas. For his beloved mother, Gladys, Elvis went on a spending spree to and bought up every electrical kitchen appliance he could find. If that was not enough, Elvis bought her the finest cashmere coat he could find on Beale Street. No matter how much Christmas cheer was toasted, the Presley’s could not overcome their sadness. For it was at Graceland that year that Elvis was serve his induction notice.

Every year that Elvis was in residence an eight foot tall Christmas tree held a prime position in the lounge at Graceland. Last Christmas Elvis spent at Graceland was 1976 when he donated $1,000 to the local police station. Gave away several cars to friends and strangers and contributed $52,00.00 to charity. Only two days later, December 27,  1976 Elvis performed at the Levitt Arena in Wichita, Kansas. Then on December 28, 1976 in keeping of the Christmas spirit, Elvis included many gospel & religious hymns at the concert in Dallas, Texas. Elvis loved gift giving. As he could not send a gift to each and every fan he would make it clear how much he appreciated their support by posting Christmas cards to all the Elvis Fan Club in the USA and worldwide

1954

Elvis was stopped for speeding  home from Shreveport on Dec 23..he
thought..there goes my Christmas money on a speeding ticket....the Officer let him
off, he took dollar bills out of his pocket and thought it was the most money he had
ever seen....he spent it all the next day on Christmas presents....

1957

Elvis buys the Santa Sleigh and reindeer still displayed every year at
Graceland....it was found in the barn in the early nineties....he then receives his draft
notice....Elvis spends his first Christmas at Graceland with his family....it will be his
Mum's last Christmas.

1958

Elvis is in Germany, on Christmas Eve he helps decorate the tree at the
barracks and entertains his fellow soldiers with a moving rendition of Silent Night....

1959

Elvis has a poodle delivered to Anita Wood for Christmas....Priscilla has just
met Elvis and gives him a set of bongoes.

1962

Priscilla is visiting Elvis for Christmas...he gives her a poodle, she gives him a
musical cigarette box which plays Surrender.

1963

Elvis donates a check for $55,000 to the Mayor of Memphis for 58 local
charities. He spends Christmas at Graceland with Priscilla.

1968

For Lisa's first Christmas, Vernon dresses up as Santa.

1970

After an argument about his extravagance which results in Elvis' infamous trip
to the White House, he spends Christmas at home before being best man at Sonny
West's wedding a few days later.

1971

Elvis jokingly gives out MacDonald vouchers as gifts before revealing the real
presents...after Christmas Priscilla leaves him taking Lisa with her to LA.

1972

Elvis spends Christmas at home with Linda Thompson, he buys her a mink
coat.

1973

Elvis takes everyone up in the plane Lisa Marie on Christmas Day to give out
gifts...Aunt Delta gets drunk and causes a scene.

1976

Elvis Returns from a stint in Las Vegas to spend what would be his last
Christmas with Family and Friends at Graceland.
